Recruitment Process
Applications for our positions open
regularly throughout the year. Please check the
Qantas careers website to see if we're currently accepting applications in
your chosen area. Our recruitment process can often take
several months to complete, so don't worry if you haven't
heard from us straight away. Rest assured we will provide
you with as much information as we can along the way so if we know something about
your application you will be the next to know. It is
important that you regularly monitor your e-mail throughout
these stages to ensure that you are aware of, and respond
to, all communication regarding your application. Here's an
overview of the process so you can get an idea of where you
are at and what's to come!
Application
Applications open regularly throughout the
year. To complete the application you will need to provide
some personal information, attach a CV and answer some
questions. You can log in to your profile to update your
details at any time. Please ensure you keep your username
and login somewhere safe because you will need this to
complete some of the steps later in the process.
Online Assessment
If your application is successful you will
receive an email asking you to complete an online assessment
within a designated timeframe. You will need the user name
and password you used to create your application to complete
this. If you have forgotten your user name or password,
please use the 'forgot my password' function and it will be
sent to the email address you entered when you first
applied. If you successfully complete the online assessment
you will be notified of this and advised that we will be in
touch regarding the next step of the process closer to the
time. Please note this can be a number of weeks.
Assessment Centre
Once an Assessment Centre day has been
scheduled for your location, you will be invited to attend a
half day session where you will be able to learn more about
positions available, meet potential future colleagues,
participate in a team based activity and have the
opportunity to meet with one of our representatives
one-on-one. The assessments are designed to assess a range
of competencies necessary for a successful Ground Crew
Member. On the day, you will need to provide us with 100
points of ID (originals and photocopies), details of two
current referees and completed Qantas security forms.
Further details will be provided at this time.
Checks and Clearances
Successful candidates from the Assessment
Centre will be contacted via email and asked to ensure
referees are aware they may be contacted by a member of the
Qantas Ground Services team. While references are being
conducted your security clearances will also be processed –
this can take some time and in some instances, particularly
if you have lived overseas in the last 12 months. It can
take a number of weeks, if not months. When required you
will also be invited via email to attend a Medical
Assessment which involves a full medical and physio
assessment as well as an Alcohol & Other Drugs test.
Offer
Successful candidates will be advised that
they have successfully completed our recruitment process and
will then be contacted by a member of the Qantas Ground
Services team when an offer of employment is possible. It
can take some time after successful completion of the
process before an offer is made. Please be assured this is
purely due to operational requirements and we will be in
touch as soon as our customer's advise us of an opening.
Before
Day 1
Once you have been offered a position
there are a number of steps for you to complete before you
start such as ordering your uniforms and completing some
online training. You will be sent an email with all of the
information closer to the time. We'll also
let you know where to meet on your first day including where to park and who to
report to.
What to Expect on Day 1 & your First Week
On your first day you will be met by your
Qantas Ground Services Port Coordinator who will organise
your car parking and ID card. They will also take you on an
orientation tour of your workplace and take you though your
QGS induction. The Port Coordinator is your QGS manager and
a great source of support and information. The next couple
of days will be spent working with the Qantas Trainers who
will take you through everything you need to know to perform
your duties safely and efficiently. After your classroom
training you will be matched up with a buddy who will work
alongside you as you start work in the operation. |
